Music in Games

27 August, 2008 (09:46) | Random | By: Lotak

I was watching the Totally Rad Show episode 75 yesterday, and during the video games section they were talking about the Civilization 4 port/version for consoles. Dan mentioned he was playing the PC version as well, and that there was this incredible song in it called Baba Yetu. I promptly had to pause the show and go find this song, and I was completely taken by it. The song was composed by Christopher Tin, and the lyrics are the Lord’s Prayer in Swahili.

This got me thinking about all of the other music in games that I often overlook. For me, it isn’t until I sit and listen to the music by itself that I can appreciate it fully. After that, I have a much richer experience playing the game with the music on.

Video of some cool visuals from Civ 4 set to Baba Yetu after the break.

Of Simple Green and Superglue

19 August, 2008 (08:50) | Warhammer | By: Jerick

So I got a Warhammer 40k Eldar army from a friend of mine that I met in WoW. I traded him one of my Warcraft accounts for it, but it wasn’t painted well. So I had to strip the paint off of them using simple green. Unfortunately one of the side effects of prolonged exposure to simple green is that it disolves the glue holding the models together, requiring me to re glue approximately 50 models back together.
